This work included the roof, walls and windows and various items of
furniture, including removal of west gallery. A particular feature of the roof
is the attractive carving at the entrance to the chancel. There was also a new
oak rood screen with figures installed, as evidently what had been there in
times past had gone. The priest who initiated the restoration said in his
report:
The one aim is to keep all the main features and really good work intact.
That he entrusted the work to Fellowes Prynne can only speak well of the
architect’s reputation as a sensitive restorer.
The work was carried out by V. Witten of Holsworthy.

The vintage card shown, posted on 13 December 1907, shows the chancel to good
effect, including the barrel roof and wood carving. |
